LEVC TX

Statement of the jury
Anyone who has ever tried getting into the back seat of a typical taxi heavily dressed will think wistfully of the spacious atmosphere inside a London cab. Getting in and out is easy – the available space is generously proportioned. Thanks to the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) – formerly known as the London Taxi Company – the iconic original concept has been transformed into the most advanced zero-emission taxi in the world. Based on the classic British taxi’s DNA, the TX Taxi combines the practicality of its iconic forbear with the latest technology, which has a range of 100 kilometres (electric operation). At that point, a three cylinder petrol engine springs to life, charges the battery and thus guarantees a range of almost 500 kilometres. There is seating for six passengers and a ramp for wheelchair users. There are also two USB charging sockets, as well as a 230 volt socket. WLAN of course, is included. LEVC has succeeded in bringing a British icon into the zero-emissions era – combining practicality with comfort and the perfect integration of modern communications technology.
